Teddy Roosevelt

On this day in history Teddy Roosevelt is shot in the chest by would-be assassin. He continues his speech and when asked about his health he responds that he's as healthy as a "Bull Moose" and thus the Bull Moose Party is born. In his honor - here's one of my favorite quotes from Teddy:
Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.
